Step 8. Engineering
One of the most important aspects of structure is loads, design strength, layouts and build materials. Engineering is used at this step to effectively determine the answers to these important facets of construction. Every new design requires computer modelling within multiple different engineering programs. These programs include Floor layouts using Engineered Joists, Roof layouts using custom manufactured Trusses, Tall Wall designs for all walls over 10 feet 9 inches, Foundation Structure to determine rebar layout and type of concrete to be used, and Energy studies determining minimum insulation values and types of HVAC equipment (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), using seasonal weather, wind patterns and sun angles. All of these reports are assembled prior to permit application.
